SOCIAL PRODUCT.
\ POLITICAL SPACE \ DISCOURSE \ PRODUCTION \
As part of a Visiting Designer Position at Syracuse University, Ruth Spitzer transformed her office into an open discursive space she coined “Social Product.” Inspired by the history of Syracuse through industrial fabrication, for example, Oneida Limited and the current moment of reset, it seemed an excellent moment to discuss ideas of work, production methods and how design relates to it.
By transforming the office space, usually used for administration and consultation, into a conceptualized ‘model one’ space by literally creating a blank slate, Ruth Spitzer made abstraction room for speculation.
